I always have a collection of little sample-sized skincare products in my inventory because they’re great ways to try new products without committing to a full-size, often expensive, purchase. They’re also great for travel, and I always keep a whole skincare routine’s worth of samples in my work bag for nights and weekends that I stay over at my boyfriend’s place.
It’s been a while since I received this little Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate ($58 for 1.7 fl oz, or $77 for 2.5 fl oz) sample as part of a larger purchase, but it’s finally been incorporated into my on-the-go routine. Now that I’m nearing the end of this little tube, which gave me a good week of both day and night use, I think it’s a good time to give my thoughts on this product.
Needless to say, I love this serum. Immediately after applying it, I always feel the plumping effect in action. Every time I use this serum, my skin feels extra youthful for the whole day. The serum is water-based and has a 15% complex of plant-based glycerin, which definitely helps with providing moisture and smoothing skin. Dimethicone is another top ingredient, which helps give that plumping effect. However, because of the dimethicone, the serum has a silicone feel, similar to those silicone-based primers. If you don’t like the silicone texture in your skincare and makeup products, you probably won’t like this serum.
The only other con is the steep price of this product – I’d definitely recommend picking it up only after you’ve tried a sample. If you like the product, try to pick up the full size during a sale. Kiehl’s often has discounts, and now that Kiehl’s is being sold at Sephora, you can pick it up during one of the Beauty Insider/VIB sales if you decide you like it. Despite how much I like this, I won’t be purchasing a full-size of this for a while, just because I have too many products lined up to try right now.
